Skinnee Sunrise 'Senior Year' Press Release

“So we we’re toying with the title for ‘Prom Song’ and we never really got anything so we just added the line in brackets which was ‘(You Do You)’ but after that we were kinda even more stuck for a title for the eventual albumthingy, so I just suggested ‘Senior Year’ as a way of maybe doubling down on the idea of an American themed albumthingy and it stuck immediaty, we just loved it” - Stiaan du Preez

This is Skinnee Sunrise’s ‘Senior Year’, after years of playing the local Gauteng scene and finding missing pieces of the band. Skinnee Sunrise embark on telling you a little bit of a story, because ‘Senior Year’ has a bit of a concept behind it. Releasing on all major streaming services, digital platforms and cd, ‘Senior Year’ consists of the following songs. 1. The Leftovers 2. Prom Song (You Do You)*

3. Shoes

4. Punch Break

5. Milky* 6. A-OK 7. Butterfingers Songs marked with an asterisk(*) were recorded and mixed by David Grevler of Anti Motion Creative. All the other songs were recorded and mixed by Byron Muller of Audio Nebula. All songs were also mastered by Byron Muller of Audio Nebula. ‘Senior Year’ was performed by Skinnee Sunrise, which consists of, Dylan Yesson (Vocals, Rhythm Guitar and Backing Vocals), Stiaan du Preez (Lead Guitar and Backing Vocals), James Murray (Bass) and Tebatso Rampedi (Drums, Backing Vocals and Percussion). From the bright guitar intro of ‘The Leftovers’ to the dark and mischievous playfulness of ‘A-OK’, Skinnee Sunrise hope that they leave a lasting impression with a distinctive sound that they try to elaborate as they mature into their own style of music. On the lyrical content, Dylan states - “For me Senior Year is a culmination of events and emotions that everyone goes through whilst growing up, the good times and the bad times. A crescendo to the end of an era.”
